hi everyone, i’ve just gotten home, been chased out of the hossie by the doctors… thanks so much for all the prayers and good words, with so many people praying and rooting for sabie, i really hope she pulls through. we hope the bleeding will stop tomorrow so they can close her chest, as they left it open in case they needed to find the source of the bleeding and because her heart was too swollen after the surgery. doctors say she will be touch and go for the next 2-3 days if the bleeding doesn’t stop soon, since she had already lost too much blood during the surgery, much much more than normal, though he wouldn’t tell me exactly how much.
shadow moon: would welcome a visit but maybe in a few days time? no one other than myself and mr. patsy is currently allowed into the ICU to see her. thanks
i’ll try to keep everyone updated either via sms to kahnee or will try to log on if only to get my mind off things… please continue to pray.
thank you.

Hi everyone, just a quick one…just came out of ICU, sabie is much more stable now than last night. The bleeding has stopped but now the problem is her kidney is in shock and she isn’t passing urine. They will do dialysis on her later and also infuse more blood trying to get the kidney back up working.
She looks ok, still heavily sedated. X-rays are better than last night and for now the lungs are clear.
We’re praying for continued recovery with no more complications.
Thank you very much for the support, James and I really apprecaite it very very much!

Just got home after being chased home by james and my dad. The doctors have been able to find the source of the bleeding and have stabilized it, and the blood is starting to clot normally already, so we’re hoping to be past that hurdle. Doctors also said renal failure isn’t unexpected so they’re not worrying about that. we’re praying for continued progress and no more unexpected complications.
her blood pressure is still quite low although it’s already much more stable than it was last night, doctors confided earlier that they thought they would loose her coz her BP went too low due to the massive bleeding.
doctors have warned that we are not yet out of the woods but are a bit more comfortable with her position now. Please continue to pray for her

hi everyone, it’s been a tough day… from seeing sabie doing well this morning, she’s not doing so well now. her left lung has collapsed due to fluid buildup, most likely caused by renal and liver failure. her kidneys had too much of a shock and she has not yet pee’d in 2 days, and her liver is not functioning and not making the blood clotting agent so she is still bleeding. The doctors have decided not to close her chest yet because her heart is swollen again due to too much fluid.
thanks to everyone for their prayers. we really need it now. they don’t dare take sabie off the paralysis medication because her chest is still open so she’s still drugged out. please pray for her kidney and liver to start functioning soon…

God is our refuge and our strength, an ever present help in distress. Psalm 46:2
He will put his angels in charge of you to protect you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
By gracious powers so wonderfully sheltered,
and confidently waiting come what may,
we know that God is with us night and morning,
and never fails to greet us each new day.
Yet is this heart by its old foe tormented,
still evil days bring burdens hard to bear;
Oh, give our frightened souls the sure salvation
for which, O Lord, You taught us to prepare.
And when this cup You give is filled to brimming
with bitter suffering, hard to understand,
we take it thankfully and without trembling,
out of so good and so beloved a hand.
Yet when again in this same world You give us
the joy we had, the brightness of Your Sun,
we shall remember all the days we lived through,
and our whole life shall then be Yours alone.

hi… it’s been a wretched day… docs decided to close up her chest due to fear of infection, but sabie’s heart didn’t want to cooperate and started deteriorating… her bp went down to 40/35 so the docs later decided to open up her chest again. that relieved some of the pressure but apparently her heart didn’t like it that it was compressed and started acting up, her heart rate went up to 225 and her bp went down again, they had to apply electric shock on her heart 3 times to regulate it and give meds to help regulate the heart rate and BP, when i left her she was a little bit more stable, but the docs say the next 24 hours will be crucial. they were not very optimistic that she would make it through the night but hopefully with the medication, she should be ok for the night.
Please please continue to pray, and thank you for all those who have offered support, i really really appreciate it.
Thanks again, pats

I just wanted to add my thoughts and prayers for Saby. I can't post on the General forum as I only "lurk" but I have been here since Steven Cook went missing and I think the vast majority of people here are great.
I have been following Saby's life so far and, as a parent of three teenagers, I hope and pray that she will pull through. My thoughts go out to her parents too - I just can't imagine what you are going through.
Every best wishes to you all.

As a father of 2 great kids, I can only try to imagine what you must be going through.
Stay strong and positive, it's amazing what effect that can have.
Wishing you both all the luck and best wishes in the world.

Little to add, but I've been watching, hoping and praying since I spotted this on Friday (I don't tend to venture into the Gen that often).
I see lots of names at the bottom that are obviously doing similarly. I think there are many more people then those who have actually posted that are sending their prayers. Lets hope the thoughts and prayers of so many can give the extra 5% to such an obviously brave, little fighter.
Pull through little one, and keep your faith Patsy!

Prayers said and candles lit. May you all come through this stronger and healthier. My sincerest best wishes to you, little Saby and by the grace of God, you'll pull through and be giving your parents different kinds of headaches in 15 years' time.

Hi everyone, thanks again for all the support and good wishes and most specially the prayers, we really really appreaciate it.
Sabie’s condition is still extremely critical, but at least the blood chemistry is going towards the positive. please pray for her kidneys to start working as this will solve a lot of her problems now.. and also that she will not have any bleeding due to the medication.
Again, James and I are very grateful to everyone.

I wish you and the baby every success, Patsy. You are in our thoughts as you know and if good, positive vibes can help, she's going to sail through this.

For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Lord, whose ways are beyond understanding,
listen to the prayers of your faithful people:
that those weighed down by grief
at the loss of this little child
may we find reassurance in your infinite goodness.
Lord, you said, "Let the little children come to me."
To you we entrust Sabie who has left us.
She was but a child and so precious in your sight.
You, Lord Jesus, became a little child for our sake.
You welcomed children and promised that the kingdom would be theirs.
Take Sabie into your arms and lead her into heaven -
where there will be no more tears, no more suffering, no more pain.
Cradle her in your love. Let perpetual light shine upon her.
Grant her the fullness of joy and eternal peace.
Comfort the hearts of her parents, Sarah and James,
and bring them peace and consolation.
You know the burden of our grief over the death of Sabie.
May she live forever with you in heaven. One day unite us again.
We turn to you with trust. Amen.
There is a land of the living and a land of the dead and the bridge is love, the only survival, the only meaning.
Thornton Wilder
Dear Sarah and James,
I am deeply saddened by the course of events. It has been absolutely devastating and everyone is in a state of shock.
Although there are no words that I can say to comfort you in this time, although there?s nothing I can do to ease your pain, please be assured that lots of people share your grief and commiserate with you - many more than you are actually aware of.
May God bless you and give you the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
We are all here for you - so feel free to get in touch. Whenever you want.
Sabie will always be in our hearts.
All my love x

My condolences to you both.
It's very hard to find the words at a time like this. My girlfriend's 14 month old nephew passed away on March 1st; he was born with serious heart problems and spent almost half of his short life at Alder Hay having numerous operations. It wasn't an easy time for the family and although I can't imagine what it's like to lose a child I can empathise. Day by day things get easier, the tears get slowly replaced by smiles when remembering him.

My baby sister, Una, passed away 33 years ago this month. I think of her every single day with thoughts of love, and it's helped me a great deal throughout my life. I'm sure that for the rest of your days, Patsy and James - you'll do the same.

Like Gray, my first post as well due to not having a clue what to put.
Having met Sarah & James and seeing what a lovely couple they are, i feel so sad for both of them and their families.
Not an easy time for all concerned, but both of you know how much people think of you over here, and hopefully you can both come over for a game in the not too distant future.
Sabie put up one hell of a fight to get this far, just not the outcome anyone wanted.

We have similar pictures of our bairns to those of Sabi on page 3. She looked such a happy little girl despite everything that it was hard not to connect.
I'm heartbroken and having difficulty writing, and I never even met her! I can only imagine your desolation.
Hopefully in time you can look at pictures like those and remember the joyous times. In the meantime, take what comfort and help you can from friends and family.

I?ll lend you a little child of mine ?he said?
To love the while and mourn for when she?s dead
It may be four or five years or twenty four or three
But will you, till I call for her, take care of her for me?
She?ll bring her charms to gladden you
And if her stay be brief
You?ll have her happy memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise you she will stay
Since all from earth return
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I?ve looked this whole world over
In my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life?s ways
I have selected you
Now will you give her all your love?
Nor think the labour vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
To take her back again.
I fancied that I heard them say
Dear Lord, thy will be done,
For all the joy this child will bring
The risk of grief we?ll run.
We?ll foster her with tenderness
We?ll love her while we may
And for the happiness we?ll know
Forever grateful stay
And should the Angels call for her
Much sooner than we?d planned
We?ll bear the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.
This was given to me when my son died 29 years ago, I still dig it out to read from time to time. The pain does not go it just gets less sharp with time. This family have a long journey ahead of them and I can only wish them well.

My brother and his wife lost their child. The week we all spent in the hospital together holding her as she fought for, and then lost her life is the worst I can ever remember. I'm from a very close family and to watch the people I love go through that was terrible. I thought we would never survive and yet we did. The memory of those days with that little girl will never leave me. I can see, smell and feel her as i write this.
At the time I couldn't understand how someone so beautiful wasn't able to survive and all I could do was feel pain. Now 3 years later I think of that little girl with nothing but love and I'm so grateful for the time I had with her. It makes me appreciate the time I've got with my other nieces and nephews. Watching my 9 year old niece trying to teach her pals to be Nina Simone, for example, or having her sit up on my knee, hug me and tell me how much she loves gives my life meaning in ways that nothing else does. At one stage I never ever thought I could feel that joy again but I do.

Dear Patsy
It's so sad to read this news. Your grief right now is unimaginable. I hope that you and your husband find strength in one another to come through this dark time with a renewed sense of purpose and love of life. Sabie's memory will always be in your hearts and you can be proud of how hard she fought. I guess some battles aren't meant to be won, no matter how much resistance is put up.
While I never met Sabie, the photos I've seen of her showed someone of a very happy, beloved and loving disposition. Amidst the frequent bickering and occasional nastiness on these forums, Sabie managed to unite us all to send positive thoughts and words. That's a feat in itself, for one so young. I am sure there will be many people whom Sabie has helped to share a better view of the world and that's quite a legacy to leave from one so tragically young.
Once again, strength and positivity to you and your husband. I hope your faith will guide you through the pain and sorrow.
You'll never walk alone.

At times this thread has almost read like a match thread. And that's the beauty of this forum - it's a community. One that comes together when we need each other most. It shows most in times of need, be it football-related or personal help & loving support. From the long, post-filled nights of Fowler & Owen leaving, the Gerrard 'no-hope of a u-turn' day, those who sat up waiting for first news during GH's operation to this tragedy.
We're all thinking of you, Pats. x

James & Sarah - I was hoping never to have to post this - I just feel desparately sorry and sad, I can’t imagine how you both must be feeling. Sabie brightened up my life, even from this distance, every time I saw a picture of her and had news of her, so the darkness that must be left in your’s, when you saw her brightness every day, so much closer, must be unbearable. In our prayers and thoughts as always.

Smithdown,
Really sorry to hear that. Make sure you take care of yourself.
Thanks again to everyone.
Hi Patsy, went through something similar with my brother's child (I'm from a very close family). I never thought that we could ever fill that void but last night when my niece hopped up on my knee, gave me a hug and told me that she was going to watch football with me because she was my princess, I realised we had. Its a long journey but always know you'll have people who are prepared to help you on the way.

First time I have been on for ages and hadn't seen any of this. Just read through every single message on all 32 pages. I am so sorry for your loss, and I know there is nothing I can say.
I haven't cried this much for a long time, and every single message was heartbreaking to read.
I am sure Saby will we always watching down on you both. My heart goes out to you.
RIP Saby

I too have just read through every page and am holding back the tears.
I can't express my feelings sufficently and don't know you, but I have with 2 young children myself, a great empathy, which a few years back I would have only had a synthetic understanding of your situation.
You are brave and strong and I wish you well and offer a smile to bring you through the darker moments. ![]()

As I`ve only been with the forum for 5 minutes, I initially didn`t want to read the Saby thread, cos I felt I`d be intruding into a community which has built up a respect and understanding among friends over some length of time.
I just clicked into `I hate hospitals` just to see what the `gripe` was, but became perplexed by the apparent costs, so went into the Saby thread.
My God, I never realised what had happened.
I am so sorry for your loss, I have 2 young ones of my own and my heart goes out to you with sympathy, empathy, compassion and love.
`He who binds to himself a joy,
Does the winged life destroy;
He who kisses the joy as it flies,
Lives in Eternity`s sunrise.` William Blake
